FAQ - Listing a Vacancy
- How do I list a vacancy?
Landlords, Property Management Companies, Realtors, Agents, Brokers, and Roommates can list available rental vacancies for free on MoveFrog.com. After creating a Landlord account, select Create a Vacancy from your Landlord Main Menu.
Step 1 – Proceed through the first three tabs, selecting the Vacancy Type, Details, and Amenities for your unit.
Step 2 – The Display and Contact tab allows you to either use the default listing formed by your selections in Step 2 (Default Display/A) or edit the default listing however you see fit, including writing your own listing from scratch (Custom Display/B).
Choose one of the display options, then select how you want to be contacted. Select the date you want your listing to be displayed.
Step 3 – The Photos tab allows you to attach photos to your listing. Find the appropriate file on your computer, upload it to your account, and then click on the photographs you want to display with this vacancy. You can attach 5 photos to each listing, and to purchase more photographs for 1 credit each, click on the link in the top right or proceed to the Enhancements tab.
Step 4 – If you would like your listing to stand out more in a Renter’s search results list, you can choose to make it a Highlighted Listing or a Premier Listing for 10 or 20 credits a week, respectively. To purchase credits, click on the green Buy Credits button.
Step 5 – The Review tab allows you to check your listing and see how it will be displayed on the website, then SUBMIT the listing to activate it. You may go back to any tab and change the information now or at any other time. For existing listings, this page can be used to see how many times a vacancy has been viewed and added by Renters to their clipboard.
Feel free to do this for all the units you manage, whether they’re available or not. You will only need to Create a Vacancy once for each unit; after that, you can edit the information, including when you want to advertise the unit as available.
Step 6 – When the Listing Start Date for a vacancy arrives (usually the same as the vacancy creation date) your listing, with a map and attached photographs, will be displayed to any Renters looking for what you have. Renters will then be able to contact you in the manner you selected. Renters who have purchased Instant Notification will automatically be contacted by email or text message if what you are advertising matches their Rental Preferences.
If you have a file containing all the units you manage (or each type of unit) in either .csv, .txt, or .tab format you can submit that to us and we will convert that information into MoveFrog listing format. The units that are currently occupied will be inactive on the website until you indicate that they are available. Use this link to do that if you manage over 50 units.
