RoadFrog - Avoiding the Squish

Move and the crew left the Outer Banks of North Carolina and got back on the road, heading for Lake Lanier in Buford, GA, outside of Atlanta.

Lake Lanier, one of the most-visited US Army Corps of Engineers lakes in the country, boasts 692 miles of shoreline and houses all types of boats and other watercraft. Move had the good fortune to spend some time on a houseboat, enjoying a few days of luxury and relaxation after the excruciatingly taxing time on the Outer Banks ;) .

Move narrowly avoided disaster while at a truck stop.

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Yesterday Move the frog was dragged up the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, all 257 steps. For the humans who had to ascend it, the trip can be somewhat physically demanding, but Move gets special treatment. Despite not meeting the height requirement, he was allowed up, and he even managed to avoid paying the entrance fee!

Move would have been blown off the edge if he tried to sit on the raling himself, so Krista, Ashley, Caitlin, and Michelle were kind enough to pose with him.

The lighthouse was constructed in 1870 and recently had to be moved from its original position because the ocean was creeping closer and closer. Countless ships and seamen owe their survival to the lighthouse and its keepers, although over 2000 ships met their untimely demise at the bottom of the sea off the coast of North Carolina in the 500 years since Sir Walter Raleigh and company first landed.

FrogBoarding

The waves at the beach close to the vacation rental where we're staying aren't very big, but Move still managed to have a good time skimboarding. No sweat. He's a frog remember, this is like his second home. More like his first actually, but Move is a fairly cosmopolitan amphibian, living in Los Angeles and all.

Speaking of Los Angeles, we escaped the 5.4 magnitude earthquake that hit yesterday, and it seems the MoveFrog office survived as well.

Move's relaxing on the beach, and it didn't seem to bother him too much.

Outer Banks of North Carolina

Attended a real estate seminar this morning with Tom Hranicka of Outer Beaches Realty (www.outerbeaches.com and www.hatterasisland.com) in Avon, North Carolina and we discussed real estate trends in this community and across the country. He's been here 17 years, mostly doing sales, but there are a ton of rental properties out here that usually are rented out for vacations on a weekly basis.

Some of the houses sell for $3 million and some rent for around $9,000 a week (!) but it's so beautiful out here you can understand why. Plus, those high-end houses have 12+ bedrooms, 7+ baths and multiple pools AND are situated right on the water.

Of course I told him about MoveFrog as well, and he's planning on posting some of his rental listings on the website. Also, our system is designed where if we ever want to expand into sales listings it wouldn't be too difficult. Right now, however, there are more resources available to buyers and MoveFrog wants to concentrate on rentals.

Move and I are headed to the beach! More pics to come!

MoveFrog Vacation Rentals/Move on the Beach

Move the Frog and a portion of the MoveFrog management team traveled across the country from MoveFrog Headquarters in Los Angeles, stopped briefly in Texas, and then continued east until we could drive no longer.

But that didn't stop us, for frogs are amphibious in nature - water can't stop the frog. Especially when there's a ferry that can take the frog to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

So Move hopped on the ferry, and then hopped on another ferry, and made it to Avon, North Carolina. We'll be here for a week, soaking up sun and the history of the area, including the arrival of Sir Walter Raleigh, the demise of Blackbeard the pirate, and the Lost Colony of Roanoke.

Hopefully, Move will be able to climb up the Cape Hatteras lighthouse sometime this week.

Move on the Move

Move crossed the Mississippi River, but first he hung out with Jake and Elwood in a Whataburger restaurant somewhere in Texas.

Also stopped off at a Waffle House in Louisiana and talked to a middle school math teacher whose parents rent out a three bedroom house - monthly rent - approximately $850. He had to leave his dog in his truck but didn't want him to get jealous of his eggs and grits. I guess sometimes dogs don't get what they want.

But do frogs?

Hoppin' Across the Country

Part of the MoveFrog management team is currently traveling across the country, armed with T-shirts, stickers, banners, keychains, and enthusiasm.

And a frog...named Move.

Here's a picture of Move in his home environment, or at least a recreation of it. Soon I'll post pics from different areas of the country, with and without Move, as we go from California to Texas and on to North Carolina and Florida. I'd like to say we're on the search for the perfect pad, but in reality we're just attending family reunions and weddings all over the place. Still, it's a good opportunity to get up close and personal with the many residential areas we have in the United States.

Hope you'll come along for the ride, and if you happen to be near any of our destinations, you can probably get a free MoveFrog T-shirt.

P.S. I fixed the settings on my camera so this should be the last humongous picture. And yes, Move was attacked by dogs so he's a little beat up.

A Hop in the Right Direction

Hopefully, no one was waiting for the MoveFrog crew in Santa Monica, because we didn't quite make it there. In fact, we never got out of Hollywood.

But for those folks in the Hollywood/Highland area who stopped by as we were handing out T-shirts and stickers, thanks for saying hi! - - and we hope you enjoy your stuff!

Here's a few pictures from the FrogWalk...

First Ever MoveFrog FrogWalk! - Sunday, July 6th - Los Angeles

On Sunday, July 6th MoveFrog will be staging our first FrogWalk - We're going to walk 10 miles from Hollywood to Santa Monica, California in an effort to spread the word about MoveFrog.com - we'll be handing out T-shirts, keychains, and magnets and accepting donations of sunblock and water for our trek (don't worry if you don't have any sunblock or water, we'll have our own just in case).

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, we'll be starting at 10:00 am on Sunday and heading west on Hollywood Boulevard from Vine Street. Our amphibian-supporting pedestrian caravan will turn left on La Brea Avenue and then turn right on Santa Monica Boulevard, and then it's straight on 'til morning, or at least until we hit the beach, which hopefully comes first.

Keep your eyes peeled and if you see us, don't hesitate to stop, introduce yourself, and maybe score a free MoveFrog shirt in the process.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and we'll post pictures from the FrogWalk next week.
